Portfolio Financial IT Conference - 2015

The Financial IT conference was visited by around 200 people, where the sector’s leaders shared their opinion and experience on trends, IT developments and the current situation in Hungary. On the event one of the first topics was the current issues affecting the banks. The local bank sector is at a disadvantage compared to other countries’ banks, as there are many regulations they have to comply to – a big portion of their budget is spent on this, while they could use it for IT development. However people agree that even with this problem there is a growing need for automatization and digitalization of processes and functions to meet the needs of their clients. Nowadays the younger generation is starting to use more and more new technologies and becoming profitable, which will soon make the banks change their mindset from the old methods to the new trends – mobile banking for example. The IT development field also brought new innovations to the conference, like the omnichannel solutions – working across permeable channels – which would help reduce costs (while keeping the clients happy). Also, the „Mobile first” principle is still important, not only as mobile banking, but as video chat or co-browsing, next to many other new functions available.
